Oh, The Places We’ll Go
Where I’ve Been
Home Town
Grew up in the suburbs of Kansas’ State Capitol. Saucy barbecue, apple festivals, Winter Wonderland, and fireworks over Lake Shawnee are just a few of my childhood memories.
Husband's Home Town
My Husband is from Santiago, Chile. Seasons are reversed, barbecue means something completely different, impressive European architecture, and absolutely no tropical weather. It’s Beautiful and has the most delicious peaches ever!
Current Home
The Big Island of Hawai’i is the most diverse place I’ve ever been. The north reminds me of the British Isles, Hilo side is a dense tropical rain forest, Lava spews from the south, and snow caps the wintery summits of Mauna Kea & Mauna Loa. It’s a blessings to live here.
San Jose
Loved the Food & the People. (PLANTAINS!!) This was my first experience flying and here I first discovered the organization Youth With a Mission.
Milan
Oh the gelato, oh the history! Every brick here is older than my entire country and I loved every second. This was my first foray into Europe and God fulfilled my life long dream of setting foot in Italy; for 3 months!
Newcastle Upon Tyne
The perfect meeting of picturesque English village and modern city. My week here was full of Anglophile wish fulfillment.
Istanbul
Uniquely diverse and the most foreign place I’ve been to date (other than other parts of Turkey). They aren’t kidding about it being the 4th largest city in the world but the food is phenomenal. My favorite? Lamachun.
Antioch
My favorite food in all Turkey was here as well as the first Christian Church and my first encounter with the Arabic language.
Navarre
First memory of seeing the ocean; or at least the Gulf of Mexico. Visited almost every year through middle school & high school and still one of my favorite places.
Lindale
Where my husband & I met! This little town an hour east of Dallas was the start of our Love Story and where I started taking writing seriously.
Louisville
As a kid, this was my second home. Ahhh, Family.
Lake District, Chile
Reynosa, Mexico
Los Angeles, CA
Antalya
Guatemala City & Cayala
San Salvador
Antigua
Santa Cruz de la Sierra
Buenos Aires
Pichilemu
Temuco
Atlanta
Breckenridge
Honolulu
Where Next?
Latin America!
After finally traveling last year to visit my husband’s family in Chile for the first time in three years 2022 is promising some more Latin Adventures. This summer we’ll head to Bolivia where we will be teaching more writers and God willing, establishing a permanent writing school there!

Gone, Gone, Gone
Gone, Gone, Gone In my writer's classes we would talk about the Protagonist's journey. Fiction novels, especially fantasy, often follow a pattern where the majority of the Hero's story takes place in a "special world." That can be a metaphorical or physical...
