As I briefly alluded to in my “About Page,”  I love to cook. I am not a professional by any means, but I love how food can span generations and cultures. Everyone loves good food and those that otherwise have never had it. Food brings people together.

Because I am so passionate about it I cook whenever I can (it’s not always possible with travelling). I love trying new recipes and sometimes inventing my own. There is something so fun about discovering what ingredients work together and how to turn foods no one would think of combining into a beautiful and delicious meal.

My most recent exploration was the well known French dish ratatouille; made famous by the Pixar movie, hence the picture. I have eaten ratatouille before and loved it. So last night, when I realized I had an eggplant that needed using, I decided to take a stab at it myself. Here’s pictures of some of the steps and how it turned out:

Since it was the first time I made it I stuck to the recipe I used (which can be found here). I did leave out the mushrooms as I didn’t have any on hand, but it turned out to be a good thing as the baking dish was pretty full. It’s a very simple recipe and might not be the most authentic, but it is délicieux! I can’t wait to try it again and mix things up, maybe throw in some herbs or try other vegetables.

Comment and tell me about you’re kitchen exploits or if you have another recipe you think I should try. Bon appétit!
